Gas hobs - safety devices??

Question:I am looking for something to make a gas hob safe! (Changing to electric isn't an option!!) Its to reduce the risk that someone can turn the knob and let gas release to cause a major fire risk / gas risk. Is there any sort of covers out there that can be fixed and secured to the top of the hob covering the knobs / ignition button??

Answers:
You could get a solanoid operated gas valve fitted into the pipework. This then could be operated by either a normal switch or a key operated switch when gas is needed

don't know but here's a fun fact

gas hobs are statistically safer than electric cause people with gas are really care full cause they think its dangerous but people with electric are less care full cause they think its safer!!
most modern hobs you have to keep knob pressed in to let gas to burner
From personal experience of both electric and gas hobs:

Electric: can still be hot but you dont realise it. Potentially disasterous. Takes ages to change the temperature when cooking.

Gas: You can hear it and smell it when it's not alight. It's instant control - on/off/hotter/cooler.

Gas wins for me, every time.
Modern gas hobs have a thermocouple that senses when the flame is absent. This automatically shuts off the gas immediately. If the gas knob were turned on accidentally, no gas would escape unless the igniter was pressed and held (typically 5 seconds) until the thermocouple operated and opened the gas valve. If the flame blew out, the thermocouple would shut the gas valve off no matter what the knob was set at.

Hope this helps.
NO, there is no cover for gas cooker ignition for you to buy. To make the ignition safe is so easy, just turn the cooker switch/Spur off. All new gas hob, you need to press down the control to enlight the burner. So call a time delate system. EC law. I find AEG hob to be good in service and price and look.
