I have a yard machine lawn mower that won't start. can you help?
Question:i have changed the spark plug, oil and check the air filter. what else can be done to get it started?
Answers:
Take it to a local small engine repair shop. They will usually have you up and running for less than $50
The number one reason for not staring on these small engines is fuel. The carbs usually have diaphrams and tiny passages. The passages/body and fuel tank need to be cleaned. For about $10.00 you can get a rebuild kit for the carb. It is not a hard job and can be done with common tools.
A lawn mower, like any internal combustion engine, needs fuel, air, and spark to run. Replacing the sparkplug does not ensure that you have spark. This can be verified by removing the sparkplug and grounding it to the cylinder. While the plug is in this state pull on the starter rope or whatever mechanism is used for starting. A spark should be visible between the gap of the plug. If this does not occur, you have a magneto or an electronic ignition malfunction. If spark does occur it is a fuel or air problem. Continue to eliminate the remainding possibilities until the problem is found.
buy a new one.
