Is there any way of restoring an OLD LEATHER COVER of a book ?
Question:My grandfather *now decease* put together a photo album. The front and back covers are made of leather. Down the left side there are 4 holes with string going through them to keep the cover and the pages with photos together.
The leather cover is worn on the edges and torn on all 4 corners. Is there any way of restoring it ? .. or at least doing something to it so it doesn't get any worse ?
If not.. who should I contact ? I'm not sure if a scrap booking store would be able to help
Thank u !

I don't know about actually restoring the torn or worn areas, but WalMart has a product called Leather Care (it's with the furniture polishes and stuff) that is excellent for cleaning and keeping leather protected.
I personally wouldn't want it to look brand new--I think the wearing is a beautiful sign of the piece's history and I like the authenticity, what with it belonging to your grandfather and all. Maybe you could learn to love it and just keep it from getting worse...
Try going to yell.com and typing in book restoration. I think you need a professional opinion.
a fabric store or furniture store should sell a leather fabric that you could lay over the the current cover.
