Get rid of slugs?

Question:I feed outdoor stray cats w/ a bowl of crunchy food on my back patio. We live in a very humid climate, and these big ugly slugs keep getting into their food bowl and leave behind their nasty slug slime.

Any suggestions for keeping them away? Or know of any "slug repellants?"

SALT! Slugs hate it and it is Feline Friendly!

Try putting a low flat dish of beer in the area. The slugs are attracted to it and drown. I don't believe you would have to worry about the cats drinking the beer.
