I am watering a man's lawn while he's on vacation?
Question:and I went over and he told me EXACTLY what to do and I've been doing it now every other day for 14 days (like he said),
but now his grass is turning not as pretty green, and some of his little tiny potted plants are shriveling... mind you i live in tucson arizona and he planted all the plants and he leaves his little plants out in the 100+ degree heat all day.
He's coming home tomorrow and what do i tell him about his dying plants??
Answers:
Tell him exactly what you are saying here. I live in CA where it gets just as hot, and I water ever day, I would rather water some every day but then the leaves turn brown. Better to have a little shriveling than a bunch of dead leaves.
Are you watering early morning or in the evening? Not good in direct hot sunlight.
Tell him the truth and expect his thanks for doing him this favor.
it has been hotter than usual, but perhaps you watered it at a different time than he did and it is getting burnt
oooh you're in trouble
If you're doing it like he said, you're off the hook.
you did as he asked you, right? I'd say you're fine.
hey, you followed his directions. however, if you water right before the hottest part of the day all the water evaporates before the roots soke up. try watering at like 3:30 or maybe giving it a sprinkle and if the soil dries up give it a good second soaking.
every other day? in tucson? you probably should have been over there every day or maybe you didn't give them enough water when you did go over there. regardless, it's going to be pretty obvious what happened when he gets home. good luck!
