Do I need termite protection on my house?

Question:When we bought our home a few months ago, there was no sign of termite infestation or presence. Since the house is a wood frame house, should we have it treated for termites as a precaution, or is that being paranoid? Do people treat for termites when there has been no sign of them?

Answers:
Well, lets see, my house is pretty old, it has wood frames, and they havn't been replaced, but they dont need to be replaced. There is no termite damage. So I would go with NO for an answer. You shouldn't need termite protection unless you see bad results in your attic or basement with termites.

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
It depends on where your house is located. Houses in the south as far west as New Mexico, can easily be infected if you are not careful. I live along the Gulf Coast, and many houses in my area become infected, including mine!
