Why would my blender go off all by itself??

Question:This morning at 6:00 I was in my kitchen making a bottle for my 8 month old. I turned to go back to our room when the blender all of a sudden went off. I was no where near the blender at the time. It sent shock waves through me. When I went to turn it off, I had to actually unplug it to get it to stop. Later on my husband plugged it back up and it went off again about an hour later. My husband thinks that maybe it has a short in it or something, but I got a really weird sense from it..can any electricians help me to figure this out, or do you think that it may be something more?

Answers:
You dont have a ghost your blenders on/off switch is knackered

Possibly the supernatural? Is your house haunted?
you have ghost in your house
Now why would a ghost only turn on the blender? Why not the T..V., radio, or some other appliance. If it was a real cruel ghost would he unplug the beer cooler?
I could be wrong, but I would get a new blender, or at least keep this one unplugged.
