How do you get rid of a moth problem in your home?
Question:It started when we brought bird seed in the home and has spiraled out of control. We have all the seed in glass containers with rubber seals. They are EVERYWHERE, the shower, the closets, the popcorn ceiling is their favortie place to live. Its a 30 foot vaulted ceiling and very hard to get up there. HEEEELP!

What you are dealing are Indian Meal Moths. They are evil little creatures that will infest bird seed, cat/dog food/treats, dried flowers, any wheat, grain, rice products that you may have.
The best way to rid yourself of these things is NOT mothballs! They have nothing to do with these moths! Check either on-line or at a do-it-yourself pest control company for the Indian Meal moth traps. They work great! Good luck.
Don't laugh... moth balls. That is why they make them! Lining the closets with ceder also helps and so do screens to prevent them from coming in. Bomb the house to kill the ones already there if the infestation is bad.
get you a real good BBgun put a scope on it ,that will get them.
I had this problem years ago from moth larve that was inside a dried flower arrangement. They infested everything in my home. I used all kinds of foggers but finally had to call in Orkin to do a whole house spray with their more powerful chemicals. I was worried about our pets but it turned out fine and one treatment did the trick. Good luck battling the pests!
PS I just read another person's suggestion above and I would not use moth balls. You will never get the stench out of your clothes, closets or home.
Mothballs. You can buy a big box for $4 at walmart
We had the same problem in our home! Well first start by removing the bird seed. Next, throw out any food supply they can get into(they can chew throught cardboard). After a soon time they should be driven out. If not, look online and you can find some natural pesticides which will not harm you, but the moths!
Moth problem:
I am always pro life. If you can catch them in a jar and let them outside...that would be ideal.
To save their lives you can also turn off every light on your house when it gets dark, turn on the porch light or outside lights and leave the door open, they will travel towards the light and just close the door when most of them are gone.
If not, turn all the lights off in your home & light candles all around.
The saying "Like a moth to a flame, burned by the fire" is not a joke. They will go to the flame and be killed by it. Each and every one of them. They will either land directly on the flame or get caught in the melted wax.
I thought I was the only one that had that problem. First of all remove the bird seed to the porch or outdoor shed. Just get it out of the house. They can get into everything. Go to the store and buy some fly paper. I know its gross but it really works. I bought like 3 pkgs. They each have four rolls. You said the celings are high but maybe you could run a string (from wall to wall) about 7 ft up(so no-one walks into them). Those little suckers will get stuck to em and then just dump the paper. Good Luck. It takes time.
