Just bought our first home -- Need Furniture -- Help!!?
Question:My fiance and I just purchased our first home in Bergen County, NJ. (YAY!!) We are in desperate need of furniture - diningroom table, cocktail/end tables, bedroom chest/bedside tables, computer desk & chair, etc.
We also have a wedding coming up in a year and need to buy affordable, but decent furniture. Can anyone provide some stores/online stores??
Thanks!

I am in the same situation but I am getting married in 20 days. WOW. I bought mine from Ashley Homestore. They have quality furniture and resonable prices. Not always the cheapest but much better service than somewhere like Rooms to go. Would never buy from them again.
Try Ikea.. its furniture that you need to assemble yourself. but very cheap... My sister just bought a full size bed, dresser, nightstand, and mirror for $250.
Also, you can try Craigslist.com if you dont mind used stuff.
IKEA they have great stuff very reasonable.
Bobs discount furniture, furnikit, target sales ( and you can google coupons for whatever stores you use and just print them)
and the levitz back room (where all the slightly irregular stuff goes is great deals too)
Never buy new furniture! The mark up is incredible! I recommend looking at craigslist.org . Look under your city/area under furniture. I will give you an example. my wife and I found a dining room table by thomasville that seats 8 people. The owners paid $4000 for it and were moving and couldn't take it with them. We got it for $1500. We probably could sell it for $2500!
Go to www.craigslist.com and check in your area under thr e"free" stuff. I have gotten so much cool stuff, for free or super cheap!
Hi,
Three suggestions
E-bay, you can buy both new and used furniture on e-bay. And even more importantly you can get it to show you only items that are in your local area, so you can buy big items and pick them up yourself so no huge shipping costs. The other advantage of e-bay is you have a much larger choice, then one particular shop, and the chance to get a really good deal.
Second- Your local paper if you are ok, with second hand. This Will give you the advantage of getting much better quality furniture for your money than if you buy it new.
Third Overstock.com
You can get a good deal, and also people can rate each of the products, so you can see what people who already bought the item think.
Hope this is helpful, and that you enjoy your new house!
One more suggestion - try furniture consignment stores. Some of the better ones sell high end cast-offs from wealthy people at greatly reduced prices. Check the phone book for listings.
