Does table salt kill ants?

Question:

Answers:
Table salt will kill you if you consume a cup of it, believe it or not. But I don't know how you would manage to get an ant to eat enough to kill it. I manage a pest control office and the short answer is no.

Fipronil. Buy a product containing Fipronil. Its awesome for ants. Don't use raid. The ants will separate and form new little colonies in different areas in an attempt to evade it. Anything that kills on contact is bad. The ants will send warning pharmones. Fipronil is relatively safe (remembering that even table salt can kill you) for your home and isn't even technically an insectacide until after the ant ingests it and the chemical reacts to it's stomach acids.

Only when the box falls on them.
i don't think so, where did you hear that?
no, it kills snails.
prob not, but it will kill slugs
i dont think so
No, but RAID kicks butt...Nuf Said
no, i'm pretty sure if you try to kill them with it, you will only have more.
never heard of such... it does kill slugs though. Very slowly and it very gross!
No, Salt kills slugs.
no, only uncles.
IT may but you are better to get ant buttons from the store or mix 1 part Borax with one part confectioners sugar and place that in their path.
I'm not sure about table salt however corn meal does. I know I thought the same thing when my sister-in-law told me about it. Why feed them I'm trying to get rid of them. Well low and behold she sprinkled corn meal everywhere and we got more ants but in a few hours they were all dead and we only had to vacume them up. The corn meal makes them explode or something to that effect.
Only if your aim is good enough to knock them in the head with each grain.
I don't think so, but I heard shredded orange peels drives them away. If your looking for something more environmentally safe I'd try that because even if the kids or animals eat the peels it won't hurt them.
No, never heard of it
No i am pretty sure that salt doesnt, but good luck on finding something;)!
Maybe.. if u use a saline solution or even brine, but if u just sprinkle it on, I don't think that would work. Also depends on the size of the ants. Tiny ones may be killed but any larger than a centimeter may take something a little stronger than just salt.
Does that make sense?
Get yourself some Amdro and sprinkle it in a circle about a foot out from the hole. Then watch the rotten little creatures carry it back into the queen. They will be gone in a day. It is the best stuff out there, without exception!
YES, absolutely - Salt contributes to water retention, as well as clogged arteries, and while this may not affect the ant immediately, later on in life it could result in coronary disease and even heart failure, resulting in a tremendous loss to the family as well as huge medical bills if the family is underinsured or financially unprepared!
Yes salt does kill ant's but depending on what kind. Use cinnamon sticks around the ant bed and on door sills (if in house) and it will prevent them from coming in.

But salt alone does not really work , if its sugar ants.
Nope...but yeast will...when mixed with sugar and made into pellets..they love the stuff..carry it home with them..and when they eat it..it makes them explode...hehehehehe
To kill ants you need a combination of water, sugar and boric acid. Mix 1 tablespoon boric acid, 1 teaspoon sugar and 4 oz water. I put a spoonful of this solution on a piece of foil, and place the foil in the ants path. Warning the ants love this stuff and will swarm it for several days. They are taking it back to the nest. This will kill the nest. If you use too much boric acid the ants will die before getting to the nest. Your ant problem will get worse for a few days, then they'll be gone.

This is poison. Please make sure you place this mixture in such a way that birds, cats, dogs, kids or any other innocents can't get to it and become poisoned. Be sure to mark the container you store the extra mixture in as Ant Poison.
slugs but not ants...try boric acid in powder form
