Will a air mattress pop if in the sun?
Question:Ok this is like a wicked random question but will anything happen to a air matress if it in the sun. I wanna tan tomorrow but I hate my porch so I wanna use my air matress but Im afriad it will pop or sumthin. Is there anything I can do to prevent it?
Answers:
If not careful, the answer is YES. But there are some things you can do to prevent this from happening. One don't inflate it all the way. This leaves air spacing for expanding pressure of the air in the mattress as it is heated by the sun. Leave it a little "slack". Another thing you can do is, cover it with a light {white} colored sheet. This will keep the mattress cooler to prevent as much expansion of air in the mattress. Happy tanning.
hahaha , u should just be brave and try it , email me if it dose pop, and tell me how freaked out u where.
When air is heated it expands. Now figure that out, if you can.
Don't worry about it. It will not blow up on you. Go ahead and get a tan. Enjoy the weather. good luck.
PS-- I haven't seen one pop yet in over 50 years.
Do your thing.
It won't explode from that.
Indeed. Your air mattress will undoubtedly pop if exposed to sunlight, and the chain reaction of chemical events will cause your body to 'pop' too. So this ill-fated notion to sun tan tomorrow may require some further consideration.
The scientific phenomonon I'm referring to, dealing in the study of airbonics, is called exo-erectic maximization. It's basically the chemical ingredients of the materials that your air mattress is made from reacting with the sun's rays in an explosive manner. Anyone who hasn't removed that little 'do not remove' tag from their air mattress knows what I'm talking about. Air mattresses are designed for use at night and in rooms without windows.
As exo-erectic maximization is the leading cause of spontaneous human combustion, many people are resorting to non-harmful, environmentally friendly spray on tan-in-a-can. It is brought to you by the makers of Aerosol Pants ('You're naked...but you're not!').
Don't inflate it totally...that way it will have the room it needs to expand.
Also--put some type of towel or something over it to keep it from getting the reflections so much...this will help as well.
Hope this helps...good luck w/ the tan!
They make inflatable matress thingies for the pool...get one of those. I would be concerned with it melting before popping. I think the pool ones are made to deal with the sun a little better.
Do floatation water toys pop in the pool? i think not
