The water from my kitchen sink is cloudy?
Question:My water is very cloudy and I want to know if this is ok or not? It is usually more cloudy with the hot water then cold and turns clear after a few minutes. Is this safe? What could be the cause? Can i do something to fix it?

Sounds like air, BUT, you have nothing to lose by installing an inline filter of some kind. Reverse osmosis filters do a great job but they're a bit spendy, can put a simple filter on the end of the faucet and you can also buy pitchers that filter the water.
It could be sediment from old pipes (galvanized). But it probably is just various gases that dissipated (even oxygen). If it clears up it is very likely safe. There are kits you can buy to check the water.
if it started then the city put something new in your city water. call them to see if this is true
It is most likely air in the line. The cloudiness is air bubbles. If your water source is from somewhere other than municipal water co., you might want to have it tested at the health dept. But, sounds like air.
More than likely, you have some air pockets in your pipes that come into you kitchen. I recommend cutting off the water and drain all the pipes, then turn the water back on and at the fartherest opening open this faucet first and then open all the rest one at a time to eliminate the air trapped in the pipes.
You have a screen on your faucet, that makes air bubbles in you water so you won't splash water all over and it eliminates pressure so the water won'y knock the glass out of your hand. It's normal so don't worry. If you had a scale build up or if the water had a foul odor you should be concerned. Good luck
If the water clears up, watch it in a glass. if it clears up at the bottom first, then it is air. There are numerous ways air can get in the water, from your water saver on your faucet, to work being done on the line miles away. If it is a continuous problem the problem is most likely in your house.
If it disappears, it's probably just air that will dissipate. You can always chose to have it tested...or purchase a filter to hook to the faucet. I would definitely consider checking it out.
If this is nothing new then most probably water has air bubbles and after a while it clears. You can call a plumber to see if there is any leakage from where the air is entering. How is the water of your neighbors. If the neighbors water is not cloudy then definitely there is a problem and a plumber needs to diagnose it.
Why does drinking water look cloudy?
Cloudy water which clears quickly from the bottom up is caused by tiny air bubbles in the water similar to gas bubbles in soda pop. After a while, the bubbles rise to the top and disappear. This cloudiness occurs more often in the winter when drinking water is cold. Air does not affect the safety of water.
get a filter your problem is gone also ask your neighbours if they have the same problem if they do then that leaveas the 2 options of talking to your council or mayors office or getting a filter filter is a must with the rubbish in todays water take care bye from australia
Mine does this and it is ok! As long as it clears after a moment, odds are it's just excess oxygen built up in the lines! When you turn the faucet on, the oxygen is there, then as it releases and becomes less concentrated the water will become clear again!
If all else fails, put some water in a clear jar/container and have it tested! Any university should be able to test it for you and tell you the contents! Or even contact your water department and voice your concerns to them!
don't drink it,get a water filter for you sink
