What about a scorpion?
Question:Somebody was asking how to catch a mouse ALIVE, without killing it?
Would it be the same if you find a scorpion in your house? Would you kill it? or catch it and throw it in your garden or in your neighbour's garden?
Which case is more humaine?
Answers:
I live in Central America/ Humane does not enter the picture. We see one, my hubby kills it. Some can be deadly. End of discussion!
Personally I am not going to humanely catch scorpions, nor have I. Why? Because scorpions lay a huge amount of eggs each year. Which can result in an infestation problem (the same may be true of mice depending upon where you live, they can also reproduce quickly. But scorpions hatch hundreds of eggs).
When our neighbors put in their pool we began getting scorpions in the house. Which is common in Arizona. Our pest professionals sprayed for them, but they are pretty resilent creatures. We were told not to step on them because it can cause a female to release her eggs, only making the problem worse. We do have glue traps in some places up against the wall in places like the pantry, laundry room, etc. If we find a scorpion I usually get needlenose pliers and pick it up by the tail and flush it. Getting rid of the scorpion and the potential for eggs.
My sons like to go scorpion hunting at night, on the block walls you can see them with a black light. They take duck tape wrapped around a stick and stick them to the duck tape. Then wrap them in it and throw it away. This hunting greatly reduced our population of scorpions for the next year.
The only downside of this is that scorpions do take care of roaches, etc. But we spray for them regularly on the outside of the house before they get in. Unfortunetely there are a lot that live near the golf couse in our neighborhood, you don't see them during the day but they do come out at night if you are walking near the golf couse. This only attracts more scorpions to our neighborhood as scorpions LOVE to munch on roaches.
But since scorpion stings can be extremely painful, I do not release them. I have personally been stung and it's my job to protect my family from them. There is also a less common scorpion found here in Arizona which is potentially life threatening.
