How do you get rid of snails in your yard?

Question:We just bought a new house, and there are snails in the backyard. Literally- they are climbing- slowly of course- lol...up our back door and back facade. They were there when they moved in and I have no idea how to get rid of them.

Any ideas?

Answers:
spread table salt around the yard it works, I have used it every year for about 10 years - you don't need allot

i'd definitely call an exterminator. maybe some of your neighbors have the same problem..? i'd also ask them about it. but the exterminator should know what to do.
A simple garden trick. Get a tin pan and fill it halfway with beer. Yeah, it's a waste of suds, but it works. Just go buy the cheap crap, snails don't deserve Samuel Adams, lol. Anyway fill a few tin pans and set em around the snails, the beer attracts them and they're drawn into the pan. It's kind of a mess but those snails get so effed up they die.
BEER!! snails love beer. pour some into a bucket, or a plastic cup/container, and they will drown. very drunkenly, drown.

you can also get snail pellets. or use copper around stuff to stop them from passing over (copper gives them a electric shock)
salt put a line of salt around you garden and the snails wont cross the line.Do it after every rain fall
