Question:there is a unusual chemical odor in my living room which ajoins the garage. nine months ago I sprayed my garage for termites, but only recently I have started smelling this odor

if you sprayed for termites 9 months ago then it would not likely be that unless you have had a lot of water under the house to freshen up the odor
care full check the tin of chemical you used to see if the smell matches
chemical clean up to remove what you have done is major work...removing the soil and replacing it
you really should not spray for termites your self as the public both lack the training to treat it properly and only have access to low quality termidacides
a professional pco would have use a no or at least a low odor chemical
