Answers:
There's a stable just south of Ealing Common on the North Circular - right-hand side of the road - that always seems to have a sign up offering horse manure.
LOOK ON THE TELEPHONE DIRECTORY....UNDER STABLES.. YOU WILL GET SOME MUCK FREE. HAL
not being from london i dont know,,,but a good place to start would a local riding stable but the premium,,,,quantity low but highest concentration is without any doubt chicken droppings ,,which you may get if you have a local farm..
you can also buy for a relatively low price re constituted manure,,,which i must say having used it is very good, from your local sewage works,,,,
no but i think you'll find plenty of bullsh i t down the kings road, look for a guy with a duffle coat on when its boiling hot you'll get plenty off him
The answers you're getting are good places to start. You could also look in the advertisement section of local paper. As for the manure - if you get what horses, and cows expel, you'll be fighting the grass and such that those animals eat. A better choice would be chicken manure. Just as healthy for your garden, no grass or weeds will grow in your garden from it. The only difference is - chicken manure should sit in a mound for a couple of weeks, and turn it over a few times before you use it. As it burns seeds and plants if placed directly and it's "fresh". Or till it into your soil and wait a couple of weeks before seeding or planting. That works too.
Go to a local stables, they'll have plenty. We were lucky when I was a kid as we used to collect it on the common, where there were wild horses living, I was always out dung collecting with my bucket so we could put it on Dad's garden. Lovely job!
