How do I stop birds falling down the chimney of our wood heater?
Question:We obviously can't cover the chimney or we won't be able to use the heater. Any ideas?

Use a metal mesh screen like the ones you see with windows. Fabricate one and get a Patent for it so that you can get rich and save birds.
Put a grill (or screen) on the end.
cover it with a fireplace flue grade metal screen or put one of them ugly vented metal top hat things on it
How about a grate covering? Lets the smoke out, but keeps the birds out too.
Use a chimney cap and insert large hole heavy gouge wire similar to chicken wire only heavier this should keep all critters out, you should be able to find everything you need at your local hardware stores Lowes (my Favorite).Ace. True Value, Home Depot,Home Base etc.
