sure its possible. i use to live in one in eastern pa. look at newspapers in rural areas in the place you're interested in, tell everyone you know- word of mouth is powerful, and contact a realtor. they'll find you anything for a buck. good luck!!
They do exist. But you will find they don't have a sewer so they will be on septic tanks. They don't have natural gas so expect Propane. They may not have electric but most do and water may be well water. The cottages you speak of can be found in the Big Bear area or Arrowhead area. You can find them in the mountains. Some times on the countryside. It depends on what state you live in.
Move to Scottland or Ireland. I doubt England has much thats cheap. Their Real Estate prices are the highest in the world.
Look in Scotland or the lakes or north Yorkshire around Ingleton. The woods are the trickier part but still possible if you spend the dosh. You could always buy a plot and use the wood cut down to make a clearing, to make the house itself creating an environmental build

Dont even try it because you'll get bored and frustrated and separated from civilisation. I was lost in the middle of a wood for a couple of hours.It gave me the creeps and I wanted to hear the sound of motors and I wanted to see shops and I wanted to see people and meet them and I wanted to be with the civil world again.
You wouldn't want one in the middle of a woods you could get one in a village with houses really far apart!
