How do I sew a long skirt using the sewing machine?
Question:ok I have to do this for a project and I need to learn how to do this...I know how to thread the bobbin and whatnot but like if I'm sewing a long skirt (I'm 5' 7" and I wear long skirts, they have to be down at my ankles) im guessing about 3 yds. of fabric but how do I sew it, I'm like so confused!
Answers:
first, i would go to a fabric store and pick out a pattern that you like and buy the right amount of material listed on the back instructions. what you do is lay out the material that you will need and lay the pattern over top of the material. use straight pins to pin all the way around the pattern. next you sew it where it tells you to. you are going to want to sew it so it is inside out. that way when you are done and turn it to the right side you won't see any of the seams. you can sew right over top of the straight pins because you will pull the out after you have finished sewing.
good luck!
Why not go to a store and get yourself a proper paper pattern or a dressmaking book with step by step instructions. It is quite easy and I'm sure you will do well. Good luck.
Try going to a sewing store like JoAnn Fabrics, sewing department at walmart. Find a pattern for a skirt you like. Look on the back. It tells you how much material you will need for your size and the type of material you are using. If you need assistance ask one of the employees. They usually are very helpful. Try going to a real sewing store. The people there will probably be more knowledgeable than walmart. Most even give classes.
