Should I buy a house that used to have termites?
Question:The house is in Mass. The termites were treated and removed 4 years ago. There was only minor damage and it has been fixed. The pest and home inspection showed that there were no issues, and no evidence of termites in the house. I'm still nervous they might come back though.

Termites are a common problem. If they are exterminated by a professional and the area has been fixed it should not be a problem.
Make sure to get a contract with a bug service when you move in or have the sellers get you a one year termite warranty from an exterminating service. ($300 value approx)
I bought a house in 2004 that had major termite damage and was treated and repaired. They have not come back and I have had no issues with them at all. I live in Central Pennsylvania.
only go through with the purchase AFTER you have it inspected. since the inspection came back good then don't worry, because even a brand new house that you built could fall victim of termites, if you are really afraid of a reinfection you can have it inspected every year.
I have bought 2 houses- both which had termites. As long as you get someone to do a termite inspection annually you should be fine. If you are very nervous - check into the Sentricon system. ( local pest control places can do this) I have done it on my house now. They install this system and it doesn't matter if you have had termites or not they will give you a termite bond on your house, and if you have any termites or termite damage with this system- They will pay for it. We did this and I feel much better about it
