How do I decide how much my collectables are worth?
Question:I have several different kinds of collectable items and am interested in selling them, but how do I decide what they are worth. I look at ebay and get one kinda price and look in books that list the supposed "value" of them and get another. How do I get a true idea of what they are worth and how to price them? Any information or ideas would be appreciated.

What you did was the best way. Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them at the time. It's that simple.
There are just to many crooks about to trust anyone what I suggest is you post them all to me I'll have a good look & then send you a cheque....
Always happy to help :-)
Are you pricing to sell or self-knowledge? In any event, the price of anything is what someone will pay. Ebay is an excellent way to see what people are willing to pay. It is somewhat better than "book" value in that it is current and real world. Keep poking around eBay and search websites for the same item and what they are selling them for. Naturally selling to a retailer will get you less but save you the trouble of advertising, etc. Good luck.
The true value of any item is the amount of money someone is willing to give you for it. Therefore, you will get a much better idea via eBay than you will with a pricing guide.
go get them appraised by a reputable appraiser.
No matter what the books say, they are only worth what the market will bear. If you see lots of the same collectible on eBay, the price you will get for them will be lower. Think about the supply and demand lesson that you got in 7th grade economics.
Because of eBay, even a dealer will probably give you a lower price.
The problem with most "collectibles" is that they really aren't collectible. They are produced in such quantity that their value really won't appreciate.
