Are there any objects that you use for something other than the original use?

Question:What are your top three favourite inovations? What do you think is the worst inovention ever?

Answers:
There are many- Toothbrushes are great for cleaning around faucets and drains, old t-shirts make great cleaning rags and can be washed instead of thrown away like paper towels, apricot kernel oil and/or olive oil makes great lip balm, old tires can be turned in to outdoor planters, old climbing rope can be woven in to a rug, milk that's gone bad can be used to make pancake batter.

My favorite innovations are anything that helps us live a more environmentally-friendly life, like solar panels, hybrid cars, and CFL lightbulbs. I don't like innovations that create a false need, so we go buy things to solve a problem that didn't used to bother us. I think the camera phone is a good example of this, although I am sure there is a better one I am not thinking of right now.

I like to cut off the corners of envelopes and use them as bookmarks. I use my garden rake and trowel as mining equipment, they make it easier to dig garnets out of the dirt. I also use my pillowcases as laundry baskets when I head to the laundry mat.

Worst innovention ever? Is there such a thing?
I use vinegar as a hard water stain remover and a glass cleaner. Use old newspapers (with the vinegar) instead of paper towels for cleaning windows.don't use the glossy or coloured paper. I use baking soda to clean my glass stove top and to clean my sinks and bathtub.
