Do you have a special gardening tip / trick?
Question:I have a backyard garden. Grow the typical tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, beans, and cukes.
My trick is to plant in rows going the same way our dog runs in the yard. That way he can run through it rather than across it. And, I have one crossways path in the middle just in case.

I plant spearmint plants around my garden. Deer, horses, and I think rabbits as well don't like spearmint and won't eat it, so if you plant it around your garden they won't come in and eat your vegetables!
You do realize that as soon as you get the garden finished, your dog will change directions, and run over the garden. Ever heard of Murphys law.
Good idea. Heres one for you. Its an old mountain trick. Plant beans in with your corn so the bean vine runs up the cornstalk. Beans are shaded to a degree which keeps blight off and you don't have the back breaking job picking beans. It also utilizes the space more. You can do this with other vines and other stalks like okra.
I add a small handful of Epsom salts to my plant holes, or sprinkle around after planting-- adds magnesium-- makes them green up nicely and I believe photosynthesize better-- nice veggies.
good luck with the dog!
