What sort of cockroaches are rather small and very narrow, with a brownish color? I assume German?

Question:Being from Florida originally, I am used to roaches being on the large to massive side of size. I have encountered in Tennessee much smaller, very narrow and light-medium brown roaches. I didn't even think they were roaches because I have never seen such skinny, narrow roaches. Are these German? I have seen German roaches before, and these roaches seem different. It's the narrow size that is puzzling. Perhaps they are underfed roaches? ;-) On a serious note, if anyone knows, please respond. I am a bug phobic, so seeing ANY type of a roach is a panic issue.

Also, in regards to inches, I am not good with coming up with dimensions. I would say that they seem to be the size of German roaches, but are very narrow and slender.

Answers:
I suspect you are right in the German cockroach guess. The link below gives pictures.

Yes these are German roaches, not the palmetto bugs we are used to. They are bad news because they breed quickly and in a multitude. Call the bug-man (exterminator).
