Should I purchase an air conditioner with R-22 or 410A?

Question:I realize the R-22 is outdated but the A/C contractor feels it is better because of the lower pressures in the system.

Answers:
410a systems are designed to withstand the higher pressures, your contractor needs to take some classes to keep up with the newer technologies

Depends on your condensor and air handler. I know most 14 SEER and up are 410A, but I just did a 13 SEER Trane 4 ton with R-22. It doesn't matter if it's outdated; only if it leaks everyday then it is.. but it's not. Also, I think R-22 cools better...
