Turn off your A/C at home?

Question:I live in Colorado and I hear the A/C of a lot of my neighbors running.
during the day it's OK if someone's home and it's very hot. it was 85F to 90F the last few days and we still didn't turn the A/C on .
During the day close your blinds and at night open yoiur windows and let fresh air come into your house.
I don't understand why a lot of people are still using their A/C so much in Colorado.

Answers:
Yeah, it makes me very sad to see others waste energy. I guess they really need it. I also feel guilty if I take really long showers. e

People are different, some people can't stand the heat.
Thank you for the tips but I run my air conditioner during the day on "vent" more than "cool" because the white noise keeps the outdoor sounds to a minimum so I can sleep during the day. I work nights, while the rest of the world doesn't, so it's my way of coping. Someday when the loud bom boxes, high-powered cars, screaming kids, and horns honking have died to a minimum, I'll consider the open windows.
Did you just ask a question?? I think you made a statement..
You may have low humidity in Colorado. When the air is very dry you can tolerate the higher temps without the AC. I live on the Gulf Coast. It would be impossible for us at those temps.
I live in NYC and I rarely use my a/c. I love open windows and fresh air (well as fresh as possible in nyc). I understand if it's 90 degrees out but people will blast it if its 70 which is a big waste of energy.
i dont know about colorodo, but here in cincinnati, if the air is not on my allergies get so bad i can not breathe and i sweat so very bad and can't sleep. so maybe thats why some dont turn on the air.
I would say most people who run their a/c when it doesn't seem to be necessary to YOU, is because maybe they are "hot natured" OR perhaps their home is not insulated as well as yours OR maybe they would open their windows to cool off but their allergies prohibit them from opening the windows. A lot of people are allergic and keeping the windows closed helps them tremendously but they still need cooling air and even if it IS cool (to you) outside, they might not be able to breathe that air full of pollen and allergens.
