Humid and moist in my home?

Question:I just recently purchased a 30 year old home that always, regardless of the weather feels humid and moist. Even if there is no humidity outside and it's cold it still feels humid and moist. You can even see your foot prints as you walk across the carpet. Is there anything I can do to make it feel dryer in my home or is this just the way it is.

Answers:
Have an inspection done because that sounds very odd to me and I live in S Florida where it is always humid but I never have this problem. Buy a dehumidifier for the worst rooms. You don't say what kind of air conditioning you have, if its central it may be malfunctioning.

Buy a dehumidifier available in most major department stores.
Get your home inspected. It sounds like there is a major problem somewhere. Perhaps the dryer is vented into the crawl space, broken hot water pipe, defective central air. ? Only by being on site can it be determined what the problem is. Get recommendations for an older handyman that has plenty of experience. He can pin point the problem for you.
