Mystery water in the bottom of the fridge?
Question:A pool of water is regulary invading my refrigerator. I have fiddled with the temperature control, turning it both up and down, but with no luck. Both the freezer and refrigerator remain cold, and nothing is spoiling. The freezer is stuffed full of food, which someone suggested to me, might be the problem, but with no explanation as to why. Please help.

Ooh! I just had this problem. It turns out that your freezer has a little hole in it that leads to a tube that drains into a pan underneath your refrigerator. This is so that condensation can drain out, rather than freezing inside (it is how the refrigerator defrosts itself).
If you have water collecting in the bottom of your refrigerator, that can mean that your little defrost hole in the freezer is clogged (with ice or whatever). If you can take the bottom of the freezer out (it's like a big piece of plastic that is screwed on) with a screwdriver, you should be able to find the little hole. Use a turkey baster and dribble some warm water and baking soda in there. It should melt the ice and clear out the pipe.
Then, the water will drain where it's supposed to rather than backing up inside your refrigerator! Good luck!
What you are seeing is probably condensation in the fridge side and melted ice from the freezer, both should drain out the drain in the bottom which in your case is probably clogged.
Actually a full freezer is better to have than an empty one because once all the food is frozen the fridge doesn't have to work as hard to maintain the temp. That being said, by any chance do you have a cold water tap on your door or an automatic ice maker? There may be a leak in one of those water supply lines if so. If not, then what is probably happening is that you are trapping moist air in a very cold fridge from excessive opening and closing. Also check the door seal if it's an older unit. To test, place a dollar bill in the door and close it. With the door closed, if you can slide the bill out, then your magnetic seal is shot.
