There's a bird in my garden with a broken wing?
Question:It's holding one wing down a bit and can't fly. It's got access to plenty of water and food and it's eating well. It's a wild animal so should I leave it to fate or should I get the RSPCA out?? Really can't decide. Thanks

Shouldnt think the RSPCA will come out...
I would put it somewhere safe, away from cats and predators...then click on the link

good luck
i think definately the RSPCA, they will tell you what to do
give it to your local vets, the rspca will just put it to sleep.
good luck.
why people giving me a thumbs down its true.
RSPCA . . . now !!
Call someone because unless its set properly then it may never be able to survive in the wild.
Is there a wildlife sanctuary ,bird rescue centre near you that you can phone.
We did this with a baby magpie which had fallen out of its nest and injured itself
contact RSPB
ask the r.s.p.c.a. - they have a hot line and will advise you the best thing to do...glad you are concerned though..i would be too!
phone number is 08705 555 999 - publics advice line
If the RSPCA won't come out, they might tell you of a sanctuary you could take it to. It's in need of protection from predators.
Get a a tennis raquet or a frying pan & whack it in the air as high as you can - great fun & it gets to fly again plus it will no longer suffer, if not you could take it inside & cook it for dinner tonight - saves going out & buying it - no? Just a suggestion.

DONT CALL THE RSPCA they will not come out, if they do they will take ages. Try to catch it and put it in a box. put it in a quite dark room and leave it alone, while you find somewhere else to take it. Take it to a 24 hour vets they are obliged to treat wildlife. If you live anywhere in Essex there is a place that takes wild birds in Brentwood. Dont leave it out the cats will have it. Peanut is right the RSPCA will most prob put it down.
Contact the RSPCA and they will advise you of aqny local bird rescue centres. Otherwise it will be lunch for a cat!
The answer about the RSPCA is correct unless your in the country and they can foster it out they will put it down, go on the internet and contacy a bird rescue site.
The irony is that the RSPCA/RSPB don't care.
Myself and my brother were keen members for years, and then one time we needed to call on them, similar situation. Bird couldn't fly, and it seemed it had already sunk to the level of starvation and dehydration, we did what we could, called them, said they would come, left it in the garage, kept it nice and calm, put food out, five days later they still never came and it died.
I think you should contact some bird organisation to get advice, if the wing heals wrong it may never fly again.
