Ants - a good way to safely rid me of them?

Question:Hi - we've got a large strawberry pot that has become home to an ant colony; any advice on riding us of them without using a pesticide on fruit we are going to eat?

Answers:
tea bags or tea leavesaregreat for getting rid of ants, in our last house we got them and i put out tea bags in the area's where they seemed be grouping and within a day they were gone. Supposedly, the tea leaves poison them, it does work though!

pour boiling water over them.
I'm not sure but riding them wont help.
they like sugar.
Set the strawberry pot in a large tub of water for a day or two. The water will drown the ants (including the queen), which will kill the colony. Remove the pot from the water and allow to dry out. Do not leave in the water for more than a day or two at most. If you do, you will also drown the strawberry plants; however, a short time will not hurt them.
Aspartame works well. It is found in nutrasweet and other little packet sugar alternatives. This was originally developed as an ant killer. The ants love to eat it and it will kill them. Just sprinkle some wherever you are having problems with ants. It helps to moisten it a little. The ants will take it down into their colony and it will kill them without hurting your plants or you! Hope this helps!
they hate the scent of mint. plant some mint around the house
After getting rid of Ants circle the pot with a chalk line. Ants wont cross it . Try putting a circle with chalk around a ant on the counter and it will stay in circle till it dies.
