Why does my bedroom have 2 entry doors?
Question:The main floor has 2 bedrooms, both of which have 2 entry doors. I've heard of houses having 2 doors for funeral purposes, but what's the story behind bedroom doors? I have one in my room that's accessible through the hallway, and one through the kitchen. My daughter's room is accessible from the living room and hallway. If it helps, the house was built in the early 30's (I think).
Answers:
One door is meant to enter and other may be exit! That's great bedroom with good privacy
We just bought a brand new doublewide and while we were looking at the houses some of them had this. They had double entries to the bathroom. Imagine shutting 2 bathroom doors everytime you needed to go. We didn't get one. It's pointless, but I guess that's just the way it was suppose to be designed.
I have no answer and obviously not many more in this world has an answer because I just tried searching the internet and came up with nothing.
Maybe it was some home builder's bright idea back in the 30's and eventually other home builders saw that it made no sense and stopped doing it.
You are assuming the rooms were originally built as bedrooms. They may have been designed as other rooms but were converted to bedrooms. Where I work we have to determine what is a bedroom , a bedroom is a room that can be privatized, meaning you can't pass through it to go to another room. It has to be at least 70 square feet in size and have access to a bathroom on the same end of the house on the same floor.
In the old days before air conditioning, more windows and doors were installed so that there would be more air flow. that way it would be easier to keep the house cooler in the hot summer months
