Question:Please don't include eating out.Only what you spend for normal needs at the grocery store, food, paper towel, etc
We have 1 baby, 1 toddler, 1 preschooler, and 2 adults. I feel I spend way too much on groceries.Just wondering what other people spend. I buy most of the things at Sam's or Walmart and some things at Publix when they have sale buy one get one ,use coupons, cook everything from scratch, never buy any prepackaged meals, buy vegetables&fruits from a farmer's stand, use water+vinegar for cleaning ...and still spend between 600-700/month.
Answers:
650.00
It is so expensive yet wierd. I sometimes buy few item, always about the same sutff every week, and when I use the savings card club thing, I spend about the same. One time I said don't use it and my bill went down alot. i wonder if they average you average spending and make it somehow work that each time you shop the computer adjusts numbers to make it balance out.
I have me, my husband, a 6 year old son, an 8 year old son, and a 10 month old daughter. I spend between $150-200 per week on groceries. This includes dinner for 4-5 days per week, lunches for the kids, fresh fruits & veggies. Most of my shopping is done at Publix. I go to Wal Mart or Target to get baby food, paper products, and a few grocery items. I spend about $50-80 a week at Wal Mart/Target.
I would say you are doing what you can to budget, we are a family of 4 1 Tod 1 Kinder we spend $400-600 a month depending on the needs. Alot of your expense will drop when you don't do diapers, pull-ups etc... The bottom line is the price of gas has risen causing everything else to rise. Farming crops took a big hit this year with frost, to the various weather happenings... Try this website www.thriftymommy.com good luck
150 a week, 15 and 17, yr old boys who love to eat. good luck.
That sounds pretty normal and possibly on the conservative side. My wife and I, our children are grown and no longer live at home, spend about between 450-500 per month. Of course it is difficult to cook for just two and we have some waste.
about $400.00 a month
I am also a 5 person family, and we spend approximately 400 in groceries a month.
Considering you have little ones on your hands, your needs will be more, which explains your 600-700 spending. When my 3 were toddlers, our spending was around the same amounts as well. I believe it is normal. But, I find that the 99 cent store can actually help, with your toiletries and other small items, and that help reduce your spending.
Coupons, sales etc; as you have mentioned are ways you can try to save money, but for the most part there is no going around it.
I spend $75 a week for 4 people, including 1 toddler. I shop at ALDI's and Save-a-lot, get the few things that they don't provide at the regular grocery, diapers from Target. I love the farmer's market!! I don't coupon at all, I don't have the space to stock up...you're doing pretty well with what you have, but I'd highly recomment ALDI's!
About 150-200 every two weeks or so.
