Flowers. Of all the flowers that you can possibly send, which are the most aromatic?

Question:I'm looking for flowers that fill a room with color AND aroma.

Answers:
Roses are often sent because of their deep "scent." Almost every flower has a unique aroma. They are as unique as the women to whom they are sent. The point is to match the aroma to the woman (or man.) It is hard to do! It is as individual as determining which perfume you like. For my wife, her favorite "aroma" changes from day to day.
Gardenias (as another person suggested) are a poor choice--the blossoms turn brown as soon as they are picked. But they smell GREAT, and are very aromatic. The blossoms last about one hour after being picked, and for that reason they aren't sold by florists.
But the real reason that the rose is the most often purchased, is that its aroma is about the best, longest lasting, and most women appreciate it.
(Women recognize many more scents than men do.)

gardenia they are beautiful and they smell REALLY good
Be sure to check with the recipient about thier preferences. As beautiful as a gardenia scent is, it would be very easy to overwhelm a room with them. (One could scent a room nicely.) This might not provide the desired effect if your recipient is not a huge fan of gardenias. Regardless of the flower you choose, it is more important that it be one that the recipient actually will enjoy than to simply overwhelm a room.

If they are for a lady friend. it might be worthwhile to check the "meanings" of any flowers you are considering. Depending upon the situation and the cultural training of the person, the meaning of the flower could make or break the gift. eg. red roses = I love you, so not appropriate for a platonic situation or a visit to a couple's home. In some situations White roses signify death. The yellow rose is not actually the symbol of Texas in the way many think, The Yellow Rose was actually a reference to a "high yellow" or mulatto woman who lived in Texas. Just a few that trip people up frequently, as quick examples.
oriental lilies, very showy white w/ pink and have a very potent fragance
