How To Care For A Venus Fly Trap??

Question:Hello

i havea venus fly trap coming wednesday which i bought from the internet and i need to know what to give the plant, like water? because tap water kills them because of all the minerals in the water, and its best to give them rainwater or distilled water only, but how do i make distilled water?

or could i just filter some water and boil it to get rid of any exsess minerals in it.?

im never usually good at keeping venus fly traps alive all of my others died, and i really want to keep this one alive when it arrives

thanks

It is easiest to just buy a container of distilled water at the grocery store. Make sure the label says 'distilled', ordinary bottled water is not distilled.

Making distilled water at home is difficult without some sort of still. Basically, you need to convert the water to steam, let it re-condense, and then collect the condensation. You can find more information on distillation at Wikipedia.org http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/distillatio...
Hello, i have had a few Venus fly traps and most lived quite long. They like a sunny spot out of drafts and not direct sun as it drys them out to much. As for watering i just had an old 2l juice bottle with tap water in it but i stay in a soft water area, and left it to sit for a week so the chlorine would boil of which is one of the things that kill them. also make sure they always sit in a little water in there dish at all times, and dont feed with fertilizer just stunned fly's and other small insects, as the hairs inside there mouth needs to be triggered twice in order for it to shut and further struggling movement to shut harder and thus start the digesting.Boiling water wont get rid of the excess minerals it will only concentrate them more, it's the steam that you need to collect if you can without burning yourself as the minerals are left behind.Or just rain water thats has been left to sit in a bottle.
