Which way should the air from the ceiling fan flow in the summer? Up or down?

Question:I always get confused if the air should go toward the ceiling or toward the floor?

HELP!

Answers:
Heat rises! All the cool air is near the floor. You do not want your fan blowing down, it will only blow the hot air back down. To pull cool air up, you have to have the fan blowing up.

Now this really is a matter of preference. Try both and see how you feel. If you are running an air conditioner than I recommend up for sure.

Good Luck keeping cool!

Your fan should go anti-clockwise, and the air comes down.In Winter the fan goes the opposite way, taking warm air up and distributing.
I prefer the ceiling fan blow down in the summertime. Blow up in winter slowly to circulate the warm air at the ceiling back down along the walls rather than in center of room directly below the fan
As far as the air goes it actually doesn't matter which way it blows because the warm air from the ceiling will either be pushed down (blowing up) or pulled down (blowing down). It's really more a matter of perception. In the summer with the air blowing down on you, it will feel cooler. In the winter you blow the air up to gently circulate the warm air that rises to the ceiling.
down summer
up winter
