I want to plant some mammoth sunflowers, I know I have read that people plant sunflowers near vegetable garden

Question:I have a good size veggie garden, N S E W, which side, and how far away would be ok. I don't want to block any sun on the garden..

If you don't want to block the sunlight you will need to plant them on the North or South side. It probably doesn't matter which side you use, either one will work and it's really just whichever way you think will look best. My parents always planted the sunflowers on the south side of the garden, right at the edge. They only had to plant the seeds the first year and the sunflowers always came back on their own every year after that. The sunflowers started spreading out so my mom had to go through and remove the ones that were encroaching into the rest of the garden.
