How can I get rid of silverfish?

Question:I have just moved to a new flat which has lots of silverfish, I would prefer to use something environmentally friendly and preferably non toxic for me and my dog! Damp does not seem to be a problem here, that I am aware of anyway.

Answers:
if you can take the dog out for the day and spray the house with simple can of mortein should work. and in some places you can place moth balls. silverfish are attracted to dark places and are also nocturnal, usally dampness too but as you say dampness isnt the problem, a large number of silverfish is also a sign of a lengthy infestation, they live from 2 years to 8 years and new eggs in ideal conditions will hatch in 2 weeks but can take 2 months to hatch, intrstingly enough they can also survive for one year without food. but as pests in you home they will eat starch in clothes rayon fabrics dried meat paper flour, starch, paper, gum, glue, cotton, linen, silk, sugar, molds and breakfast cereals. sanitation alone wont stop the infestation but can stop new ones from starting.
hope this helps

Electricity.
Lift the edge of ALL your carpets in the flat and run a line of table salt along the bottom of the skirting board and under the edge of the carpet. Silver fish by all accounts don't like salt. So this should do the trick.
Just spray the cheapest bug killer you can buy. Spray in and around cabinets, etc. You or your dog won't be affected by it. I would think your landlord would be responsible since you just moved in.
salt.
Silverfish like the dampand wet conditions.
They are very small and move very quickly and are basically harmless, though unsitley.
The best way to get rid of them is to locate the point of entry and block it up with mastic or polyfilla etc, and go to the hardware shop and buy some nippon or py powder or an alternative they will advise you of the best remedy.
This is the only way to get rid of them, check for hidden damp, leaks ect.
Moth balls usually works. good luck
