Flooring for screened porch?!?

Question:We are planning on remodeling our existing back porch, and I would like to screen it in. The floor boards are in bad shape but the supports underneath are fine. (Although our carpenter is suggesting a couple more supports be added.) Should we use plywood for the floor and cover it with all weather carpet, or would that get soggy and mildewy on a screened porch? Or do we need to use individual planks with a screen underneath to keep bugs from coming up from below? (It's about 6 feet off the ground.)

What is the most economical way we can go without creating problems down the road?

Thanks!

Answers:
Use tongue and groove slats and paint them. No need for screen and not as pricey as you may think.

I would use 5/4 board like what they use on decks and use a nice indoor/outdoor carpet, any moisture will dry out because the floor being the 5/4 board will let it breath, my porch isn't screened in and it's a 10x20 with the carpet I described, it's been on for 10 yrs now and has taken snow, rain and other things mother nature has dealt and this is just a deck with a PVC roof. good luck Les the painter
