Ant Infestation! Chemical free way to make them leave NOW?
Question:There are ants everywhere in my basement! I need them gone ASAP, but It's where I sleep and I have a cat and dog. Is there any quick way to make them leave or die without harsh pesticides or chemicals?
Answers:
Copper is also said to act as a fence.
But hot water and such only kill the workers.
Harsh chemicals can be bought for $2. They are locked up in a plastic box. The ants will go in, collect the poison and take it to their queen (the traitors).
That will effectively kill the nest and you do not have to spray anything.
Put a line of dish soap around your house and in the cracks. It acts like a fence to keep ants out.
any liquid soap is really the best barrier to avoid ant troops lining up at home - though the first challenge normally is to get them out as they already have installed satelite orientated highways with headquarters under any honey- or bread box, or even an old sock is considerated suitable, meanwhile you´re completly absentminded enjoying your chips and watching tv. So if you don´t want to have a big killing field in your home, you need some patience to make them go out. If there´s only one street you just put any object in their way, when they touch with their feelers they just turn back to where they came from. Move the object and the ants all the highway back until you reach point of entrance, then be quick and close the entrance with any for this point convenient product (soap, silicone, plaster etc.). Seal as much as possible, as they always enter next possible gateway. If there are too many ants or you have very little patience or time wipe them all back to their entrances with paper towels, maintaining frontiers by soap lines. Once you have them out, make your place non-attractive for ants - put all interesting things like food or fruit in closed boxes. They are able to make holes in plastic and paper bags to reach content, really insuperable are hardplastic and crystal containers. They also enjoy to invade all meals you give to your pets, so use the medieval tactic of water-wall to protect against intruders (put the meal plate into a bigger one with some water, meal plate has to go on staying on ground without flowing). Normally they don´t come in there, but´ve seen them coming during very dry weather, to drink or take a bath or what. so best is to avoid them coming in. (Bad luck if they enter by your front-door.)
Whish you success gaining the battle!
Windex with ammonia d kills ants on contact, the orkin man at my old apt showed me, and baits only control the population,
Buy ant traps. They are cheap and pretty well contained as far as chemicals
