What's the best way to clean an old, rusty horse shoe?

Question:I have a rusted horse shoe that I found in the pasture a few months back. I've finally decided to derust it, but I don't know what to use. Are there any house hold products? If not, do you have suggestions for a deruster? Also, will it have negative effects on the old horse shoe?

Answers:
Soak in it RustBlast.

there is a rust cleaner that is a mild acid, ask your local hardware chap for help.."navel jelly" thats the name...wash and rinse very well
buff it with a wire wheel on a grinder would be the quickest then spray it with clear coatto keep it from rusting again
CLR , works wonders its to get rid of CALCIUM-LIME-RUST
Go to your grocery store and buy cream of tartar. Mix it with lemon juice and using a soft toothbrush, brush the rust away. It's a natural rust remover and won't harm the horseshoe.
Throw in a jar of coca-cola for about a week. The acid in it will eat just about anything.
