What is a natural remendy to get rid of cockroaches in the home?

Cockroaches are nasty things, and hard to kill. The only safe & natural remedy I know of is the Baking soda and sugar trick. Make a mixture of 1/2 granulated sugar and 1/2 baking soda, and set it out in roach infested areas (under the sink, etc.) in small containers (milk bottle tops work well). Roaches are attracted by the sugar, eat their fill and their stomachs explode. Other roaches will eat the corpses, so you should get a few at a time. It's not as effective as Combat, say, but it is natural, and pretty safe around pets and kids.

Boric acid... is that natural? not sure, but its found at the drug store. Can add sweetened condensed milk to boric acid, roll it into little putty balls, place them under the sinks in your kitchen and bathrooms. They will be more likely to walk over to the boric acid if its sweet. then they will take it back to their colony. The whole group will be wiped out.
goto your local pest store and ask for bombs, most places don't want to sell them cause they want to do it themselves. When using them take any animals out of the house and close all the windows. place one or two on each level of the house and leave for about five-six hours
Use borax 20 mule formula. its a cheap powered detergent available at wally world or ant dept store for about 3 dollars a five pound box. Roaches hate borax.
There really isn't an end all, be all way to get rid of cockroaches. No holisitic approaches really work and most are old wives' tales. You can use products from Raid for example to control them but it won't eliminate them.

This is especially true in apartment complexes and project homes. As long as people are filthy around you, and you are clean, a roach won't care.

Sorry for your problem.
Diatomaceous Earth is labeled for cockroaches. That's the material used in pool filters . It's also used for slugs & an insecticide .

Dinin has a point . The main problem is food & shelter. Eliminate that , & so go the roaches.

As Marcia said, get the D.E. labeled for pesticide use . Mentioned pool filters as a point of background , to give you an idea of the nature of it . Figure that most people have seen it, even if not knowing what it was.
put a product called diatomaceous earth in their path do not get the kind for swimming pools
Nasty creatures those things! However, in my opinion the best way to get rid of them is those Raid cockroach traps. The ones with the food in them. They go in and eat the food and die. It lasts quite a long time but the traps have to be replaced every so often. And as a extra back up get the glue traps that catches them and sticks them. Good luck and know that roaches can appear no matter how clean or dirty a home is.
go to here:

go to page 7, out of the 11 of them
you will see the title "Consider Alternative Products"

scroll down to roach control, which is b/t toilet cleaner and ant control:

"kill roaches with a mixture of equal parts flour, oatmeal, and plaster of Paris. Keep out of reach of children and pets."

I do not know what Paris is, and whether or not if its "natural" or environmental-friendly if that's what you mean

be sure to check out the other pages of the pdf so you can help out our planet and care for our natural environment :)

i hoped this has helped then
bye
Remain in your home!

As humans are the mighty cockroaches most dangerous natural predator, evolution will surely prevail!

May your vermin be vanquished swiftly.
The suggestions for boric acid (AKA Borax 20 mule) are both good because the roach can not cross a line of that material. It scratches the exoskeleton and they die quickly. I would advise that you go with Borax.

You might also place a shallow bowl of wine under your fridge (Red). They love the smell and the taste, fall in, get drunk and drown.
