Why do I have these little fly/nats in my kitchen?
Question:I am a VERY clean person, and never have bugs in my house, unless they fly in when door open. Well the past couple weeks There have been these nats in my kitchen. There are a few everytime I go in there mainly over the sink/counter. How do I get rid of them?

pour some bleach and scrub your sink with baking soda, they might be coming from there. Especially if you have a garbage disposal. Good Luck
You do not have to be dirty, or messy to get them. You usually bring them in to your house when you buy fruits or veggies,
their eggs are on these products, and hatch, when you bring them in your house.
To get rid of them use a spray that mentions these insects.
There may be eggs on any fruits and vegetables (especially bananas since they are usually left on the countertop) you bring home from the store. It helps to wash the fruits with soap and water. I think they are called pomace flies. I recently had an outbreak in my kitchen. I hung up a sticky flystrip, but it looks like I'll just have to wait 'em out, I don't think they have a very long life span.
they are probably fruit flys which come in on your bananas or melons or other fruit. It is usually a fruit that sits on the counter. They lay their eggs on the fruit. Wash all fruit including bananas when you get it home.
Yes, I had that problem. I don't remember where/who, but someone told me they were "fruit gnats" (?) and that they lay eggs in the soil of any house plants, etc. I finally caught them on fly strips (which is gross if you're a neat-freak or germaphobe) and they eventually all got stuck and problem solved. Whoever answered me told me what to put on soil (house plants) to kill eggs, but I don't remember what it was. Be persistent. Leave the fly strips up even if it hurts your stomach to do so. Nats like rotten fruit&veggies most of the time potatoes,or bannanas.But if your really clean there should not be any of that.What do do wipe your counter with? does it smell sweet? maybe there atracted to that? If I have nats I always get the vacuum and suck them up.LOL You can leave a jar of sweet pickle juice open on the counter over night,And most of the time ,there in the pickle juice and dead in the morning.Don't have any pickle juice? Try vinagar&sugar instead.
Small flies can be fruit flies but there also can be small flies which come from the drain in your sink. Pour a small amount of bleach down the drain at the end of the evening.
They are probably Drain Flies. I don't know if that's the technical term, but that's what the restaurant industry calls them.
If you have a garbage disposal, make sure it's functioning properly. Also, you might check the drain line that runs from your dishwasher to be sure it's clear.
