After having sex in every room get your close family and friends round for a meal and a drink - its nice to have people round!
When we moved in it was my sons first birthday then my birthday then xmas so it was lovely entertaining and really helped make the place feel like home!
Also known as a house warming party!
If you're religious you could approach your local faith leader and ask her/him to bless it
Well obviously I have to move all the coffins and remains of the relatives into the new place!
I assume it has a crypt?
Crack open a bottle and start drinking.
I don't know if this is traditional, but my Mum always got an orange and took the inside out and then filled the orange with cloves. She then hung it over the new front door. Her theory was that it made the house more welcoming and got rid of evil spirits. Well whatever, it smelled nice.
Stuart t hit it right on the money. Thats what me and my GF did when I bought mine. :)
I burn incense or a smudge stick and take the smudge stick to all the rooms, letting the smoke get into all the rooms. It is supposed to clean away negative energy. It has not failed me yet!
Also, you could have the house blessed by your local pastor.
My other tradition is to put on the music, and clean every corner of the house before I move in. It in a sense makes the place "mine" .
Yes and it is called cleaning, not only from the dirt and rubbish that the previous tenants left but also spiritually.
You get people could have demons which is like a bunch of grapes.
For instance:
The Spirit of lust goes around with promiscuity, porn and so forth - So when you let people in your home that you don't necessarily know that well, these spirits also comes in and they are left behind in your home;
There are various spirits and it al depends on who you allow in your home. I have already felt that after some people visited, that there is come quarreling going on in the house, which never use to be so bad, it is a spirit of strive.
I am a Christian (born again) and we have read in the Bible that you can use oil (olive) and pray over it. You then go to all your door posts and apply a little bit of this oil and say:
In the name of Jesus, your spirit of strive (what you have experienced) etc leave this house and go to waterless places where you will stay. I plead the blood of Jesus Christ over this place. I submit myself under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and I come against you Satan and all your demons and rebuke you. I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to leave my home.
That is it.
I've heard of folks who have a priest or pastor come to bless a house, but I would just thank God for the blessing and set out to make it a welcoming place. Hang some wind chimes. Put up a bird feeder. Do you like flags? A pretty potted plant by the door? Bake something wonderful to make it smell like "home." Be a good neighbor. Fill your home with music, love, and laughter.
throw a party!
Kegger!
i agree its traditional to have sex in each of the rooms.
have sex in every room then have a huge house warming party! i haven't long moved into my house and my mother in law thinks im obsessed in plants so she kept buying me them but really i hate the things i just cant say no when she gives me them, i got really drunk at my house warming party and decided to trim a few plants oooops it was a bad idea think she took the hint though she hasnt spoke to me properly since, spose its a good thing in a way coz i got no more plants yey
Have a house warming party invite your friends round for a drink and tell them to bring a bottle.
check out the neighbours
I was always told to leave some coins on the fireplace mantel of the house I was leaving so that the house/new owners would never be without money or food.
I don't know where it originated but when I've moved I've always done this. I just makes me feel good to carry on an old tradition.
Ring a bell in every room it gets rid of negative energy.I would also have someone in to bless it, or do it yourself !
