I recently bough dining room chairs that have leather seats. Do i need to treat the leather?
Question:I heard it will dry and crack if not treated? Where and what do i need?
Answers:
Yes, you should treat them so they don't dry out. If they crack them you will have to replace them. They sell leather cleaner. You can buy it in wipes or cream. I have leather wipes. You can get 50 wipes for under $5.00. I bought them at an automotive store. Just make sure you keep the leather soft. I have leather seats in my vehicle and I treat them usually everytime I vacuum it out.
Try using an Armorall (like for car seats) type protectant. It's important to keep the leather supple or it will dry and crack. Some people have used furniture polish, but that tends to leave a waxy buildup over time.
I have had great luck with this product listed below for a set of 4 leather barrel chairs we have had for 12 years. When we got them they were in ok shape, but this brought the suppleness of the leather back and they look great. Plus, they are't slick like Automotive products will leave it.
