Washing machine leak - My washing machine seems to have developed a leak near the waste pipe exit.?
Question:The waste pipe exits the machine at the bottom right hand corner of the machine (looking from behind), it used to loop up and was attached to the machine with a plastic tie but I had to remove this so the waste pipe could reach the connection to the mains waste. The water seems to originate from that area of the machine. When I tilted the machine to examine the bottom I noticed that it sounded like there was still some water in the machine. I had disconnected the water supply pipes and some water dripped out of the hot connector when I righted the machine. The machine is only 4 years old and I hadn't noticed any leakage prior to this, it has been installed in the current place for around 4 months. Any ideas anyone?
Answers:
there are a lot of rubber parts that wear over time and you cant replace these yourself.
if there is water in you m/c the pump has a problem, it may have something in it stopping it functioning properly.
those outlet pipes are dirt cheap and you do the job yourself.
try these

clean the waste pipe, it could be clogged with fluff and gunge. this happened to mine twice last year. it does the trick
The best solution would be to get a new waste hose. They are fairly in expensive and easy to install. If your's is the hard plastic you might look for cracks in the ribbed areas, if it was pinched in moving or when you first put the washer in it's possible the heat of the waste water has caused the plastic hose to relax and leak.
If you get a new waste hose, I recommend a rubber hose that if it kinks it won't crack or leak.
Also I'd recommend checking your supply lines as well. those can age quickly and with the pressure they hold in between loads, you're safer replacing them with steel braided or nylon reinforced pcv hose. I had one burst on an old washer and the cost of the hoses would have been 10 times cheaper than the new carpet, wall board and trim work that had to be replaced from water damage.
