Boil a kettle. Pour into the nest. Need to do that many times, but no pesticides used

I have animals and I use of all things, Windex. The animals don't go near it and it does the job on the ants. It takes quite a few sprays, but even the carpenter ants are no match for Windex!
I've been using MaxAttrax ant baits very successfully. My pets pay no attention at all to them and I told my grandkids they're not to play with and they leave them alone. They're just little plastic units with the poison completely enclosed and they don't look very interesting. The ants take the poison back to the nest and wipe out the colony. Works in 24 to 48 hours.
There are several things you can use, but I think cinnamon, Cayenne pepper, or anything like mint oil, leaves, etc.. work very well for ants. You can sprinkle some around where they are coming in or you can take a spoon full and put it in a bottle mixed with water shake it up and squirt around the area. You can also use dr bronners pure castile peppermint soap. It will keep those giant water roaches away as well.
Grandma would feed ants plain old cook style grits. It would take about a week for them to get their fill and die. I guess thats why she never had an ant problem?
Spraying vinegar on them will kill them, however it won't kill what is in the nest...
