DISGUSTING!! I have bugs/insects thriving in my pool. Can anyone help identify these creatures for me?

Question:The bugs are very small, alsmost unnoticable to the eye unless you are looking for them. They look like little black lines with a paddle-like arm on either side. We have shocked the pool a few times and can't get rid of them. What types of insects actually THRIVE in chlorinated water???

Answers:
Sorry I don't know what they are but take a few samples to a Pool Store and ask them what you need to treat it..It's possible you don't have enough chlorine?

that sounds creepy.
I believe you have a nice little breeding ground of mosquitos. You may not be shocking the pool enough. You must cover the pool when not in use to prevent mosqitoes from breeding. Skim off the top water and shock heavy. You definately don't want to swim with them. They can enter your body through your nose, ears, and other orifices. Shocking the pool and skimming off the top solved this problem for me.
