How do i keep squirrels from digging up my yard?
Question:We finally have a full new lawn growing in, after months of work, but squirrels keep digging holes and tearing up the grass. Its just a small fenced in back yard, as we have a town house, and all the trees are on the other side of the fence. Why do they have such an interest in our yard?
Answers:
Blood Meal. It's a fertilizer and has a slight fishy odor. They hate it and it won't kill them.
chew some juicy fruit gum and place it all around the border of your lawn about every 10 feet or so. if you have trees place it at the base, by the mulch. and around everything they like... it worked for me. hope it works for you. - if not - bb guns work too but i like to use arrows. have a good weekend im getting lucky in Kentucky. he haw, Robby
this may sound crazy... but it worked for me... i had some critter digging up my lawn too. so i pee.d in and around the holes and yard...lol... at night of course when no one was there. like i was marking my territory. it stopped. or get a dog.
you could think of getting a couple of dogs... if you like dogs, and you own your own place (no landlord to say no!)
The best reason I can think that squirrels would be digging in your yard without trees would be that they stored their nuts in your yard the previous fall and are now trying to recover them. Dogs are good repellents, if allowed. If not, most home improvement type stores usually sell some kind of ultrasonic device that should help deter the squirrels, and other critters, from coming into your yard. Good luck.
