How to get rid of dampness in the corner of my room?

Question:Is there any other way other than getting a de-humidifier and leaving the windows open?

Answers:
you gotta figure out where the water is coming from. could be a leaky roof, a leaky pipe on the other side of the wall... lots of things. baking soda works well to soak up dampness and helps get rid of any smell. just pile it up and let it sit for a day. you'll have to scoop up what you can and then scrape the hell out of what sticks to the floor while vacuuming the spot. this is the best way i've found. works great with animal urine.

There is a product called Damp Rid. It is a bunch of crystals in a plastic container. I use it in the washroom behind the toilet. I really helped in there. I have also heard that you can get the same effect using charcoal. Just put two plastic containers together so that there is an inch or so between their bottoms, and poke holes in the top one. The charcoal goes in the top one.
