What can I do with my stuff?

Question:I'm moving and I've got a whole lot of stuff which shouldn't be thrown away, but I don't want it. The charity shop is closed til October, by which time I will have moved far away. Is there anything else I can do to guarantee my stuff is in good hands and put to good use?

Answers:
Have a yard sale. Or check you area for other charities that take specific used items -such as a women's & children's shelter, the library (for books). The last resort, if you still have things you can't get rid of, is to set them in your front yard with a sign that says "Free" - guaranteed it will disappear overnight!

Yes have a yard sale, seen quite few people doing this recently..
Why don't you sell it on Ebay and give the money to charity?
freecycle uk is the answer if you do'nt want money for it.Go on the website for your nearest group, absolutely great .
Try Freecycle (www.freecycle.org)
You list all the stuff you have then people that genuinely want it will reply and come & pick it up from you!
You may have to list your items a couple of times - depends on if the people that particularly want it are online (just like YA really - you only get the answers if the people that know them are online!)
Look under Yahoo groups to see if there is Freecycle group in your area. It is an online group and just in our semi small town there are 1200 members. We give stuff to eachother all the time. The main goal is meant to keep stuff out of landfills but the more personal note is that you get to give stuff to the people who will really use it and sometimes you get what you need too. There are TONS of Freecycle groups out there. There is probably one in your town or possible a neighboring town.
Sometimes churches will take donations to give to needy families. Good luck.
Since we cannot know where you live I might suggest contact your local authority for details of the 'umbrella group' that runs voluntary services. There are often bodies that collect furniture and goods for families starting afresh after divorce home eviction etc. And some church organisations run similar schemes. One such group is the St.Vincent De Paul charity who work with the homeless.
find your local free cycle its great for giving stuff away and for getting a bargin
